Poem: Never Forget

Never forget

The day I awoke

To billowing smoke

To fires burning

When the world stopped turning

Never forget

The savage attack

That took us aback

As civilization crumbled

Into a smoldering rubble

Never forget innocence destroyed

Lives tossed into the void

And evil rose to laugh

At the horrific aftermath

Never forget

How we all felt

When the blow was dealt

And we looked to neighbor

Then drew even closer

Never forget

That we were wounded

That children were orphaned

But we stood even taller

All sisters and brothers
