Poem: Still Alive

Burned my flesh,

And ground my bones.

Invaded my life,

Then burned my home.

Severed my veins,

Bled my body dry.

Ripped my heart out

In a fire, watched it fry.

Tore my limbs apart,

Stole breath from my lungs.

Spit venom in my face,

Abandoned in burning sun.

Still I woke once more,

Gathered strength to rise.

You tried to kill me,

But I am still alive.
