As I finish editing Sureshot 2 (Sureshot the Assassin), I am debating something important. When initially writing the story, I developed a random system for naming based on general language rules for the multiple language groups I invented for the story. This means though that the names are very foreign. I’m not sure if this is the best thing for a reader. Maybe I would be better off with generally recognizable names sometimes spelled differently or modified slightly. For instance, the owner of the Lone Pine Inn is, Darak. Basically the exact same name as Derek, just with some vowel substitutions.
So, I’m honestly asking for advice and feedback:
Should I make the names easier and more recognizable?
or…
Go with unique and sometimes wild fantasy style names?
