Fight Through

I’m pretty sure everyone gets “writer’s block” at one point or another. I had it pretty bad this weekend but was determined to be productive anyways. The real problem was that I wanted to get back to writing the Goblin Brothers story but hadn’t added anything since last summer. I wasn’t entirely familiar with where I was in the story and didn’t know where I wanted to go. I had more than 20,000 words written so it takes a minute to read through what I have to get back on track. I was dragging my feet. I posted a poem, a Super Dad story and updated my blogs. Finally I got going. I few words here. A few there. Then a snack. A few more words. A beer. I was limping along. Then I made a pot of coffee and finally gained some traction. In the end I was productive for several hours and wrote a lot! Created a new character that I’ve been thinking about and even snuck in a second character that I’ve wanted to introduce. Another poem. All good things.

Point is…fight through that block! Do whatever it takes! Chip away at the wall and get in the flow again. If you’re like me it’s difficult to get to writing every day so it makes it difficult to get in that mindset every day. Find a way! It’s worth it in the end.
