So on Kindle the second book in the Half-orc series was only a dollar or so and after reading the first I decided to get the second. This book added a plethora of characters that sometimes enhanced and sometimes detracted from the story. The new love interest of the evil brother was a fantastic character but the troupe of adventurers was a difficult sell. In this book Dalglish really began to use modern vernacular in an epic fantasy which is difficult to pull off and I feel he failed to do so. The modern cursing distracted me from the story. Overall though the story advanced, there was some good conflict and some good exchanges. The characters were sometimes very believable and other times I feel he forced things that felt unnatural. Yet for the price, it was fine. Perhaps it is even better than my own writing. It is hard for me to know.
